New business areas generate increased focus on Boliden's main products

Boliden is implementing organisational changes in order to bring about additional improvements in the way operations are managed and monitored and to increase the focus on our main products, copper and zinc. The Business Area Smelting Operations will be divided up into two new business areas, namely Copper Smelting Operations and Zinc Smelting Operations. The Business Area Marketing and Sales will also be divided up in line with the two main products, copper and zinc, and linked to the respective smelting operations.

The new head of the Business Area Copper Smelting Operations will be Jukka Järvinen, who currently manages the Business Area Smelting Operations. Johan Wiklund will be responsible for marketing and sales within the Business Area Copper Smelting Operations.

Svante Nilson, currently head of the Business Area Mining Operations, will be the new head of the Business Area Zinc Smelting Operations. Lars-Göran Björkqvist, at present head of Business Area Marketing and Sales, will continue to be responsible for this area within the new Business Area Zinc Smelting Operations.

The new head of Business Area Mining Operations will be Jan Moström, who is currently in charge of mining operations in the Boliden Area.

All Business Area Managers will be members of Boliden's Group Management and report to the President and CEO, Jan Johansson.

The organisational changes will come into force as of 1st August 2005.
