Boliden signs agreement for future purchase of copper concentrate

Boliden has signed an agreement with the Canadian mining company
Eurozinc concerning the future purchase of copper concentrate. The
agreement is conditional on the success of an offer submitted yesterday
by Eurozinc for the acquisition of SOMINCOR SA, the owner of the
Portuguese copper mine, Neves Corvo. The auction process is expected to
be completed at the end of February.

Neves Corvo is an important copper mine which produced around 320 000
tonnes of copper concentrate in 2002. Boliden's Harjavalta copper
smelter has been purchasing copper concentrates from Neves Corvo for a
considerable time. The agreement allows Boliden to secure future
deliveries of copper concentrate to its smelters.

Boliden and Outokumpu have also signed a cooperation agreement with
Eurozinc. Through this agreement, Boliden and Outokumpu will provide
Eurozinc with general operational and technical services. Outokumpu has
also entered into a technical service agreement by means of which they
will supply Eurozinc with a range of technical services as well as
delivery of technical equipment. These agreements are also subject to
the success of Eurozinc's bid to acquire SOMINCOR SA.

The abnormally high seismic activity in Garpenberg has decreased and mining production at low levels will commence in the second quarter. The first quarter throughput was just under 0.8 Mton instead of the expected slightly over 0.9 Mton at already communicated grades. All inspections are not yet complete but production in the most affected part of the mine is not expected to resume in 2026. Until further notice, Garpenberg's production is therefore estimated to be around 30 percent of the guided capacity of 3.7 Mton per year. For the first quarter of 2026, EBITDA will be negatively affected by approximately SEK -400 million at today's prices and terms.

Boliden has decided to invest in a new hoist system at Garpenberg and an industrial demonstration plant for the production of supplementary cementitious material at Rönnskär. The investments, which amount to SEK 4 billion and SEK 1.5 billion respectively, will strengthen the earnings capacity of both units and lay the foundation for exploiting further future opportunities.
