Boliden reorganises into two Business Areas

Boliden is launching an organisation comprising two Business Areas: Smelters and Mines. The change entails integrating Business Area Market with these two Business Areas, and Svante Nilsson has been appointed President, BA Smelters.

The bulk of BA Market's operations - purchasing raw materials and selling metals - will be integrated with Smelters, while responsibility for concentrates sales will be integrated with Mines. These changes are being implemented with a view to generating further efficiency improvements within the Group's material flows.

"In two years, Business Area Market has achieved significant efficiency improvements in the Group's management of its material flows. The next step towards achieving further improvements requires this area of responsibility to be tied even more closely to the production units," says Lennart Evrell, Boliden's President and CEO.

Svante Nilsson, currently President, Business Area Market and acting President, Business Area Smelters, has been appointed President, Business Area Smelters. The organisational changes are effective as of May 8, 2009.
