Anders Ullberg proposed as new Chairman of the Board of Boliden

Boliden is giving notice of an extraordinary general meeting to be held on October 21, 2005 to elect a new Board of Directors for the company, following a request thereto by its major shareholders. The proposed new Board Members are Ulla Litzén, Matti Sundberg, Anders Sundström and Anders Ullberg.

Shareholders representing approximately 32 per cent of the votes and capital in Boliden have proposed, in light of Outokumpu's sale of its remaining holding in Boliden, that Boliden's Board of Directors should comprise new Members, Ulla Litzén, Matti Sundberg, Anders Sundström and Anders Ullberg, and existing Members, Carl Bennet, Marie Berglund, Jan Johansson and Leif Rönnbäck. Anders Ullberg is proposed as new Chairman of the Board, with Carl Bennet to remain as Vice Chairman.

The present Chairman, Risto Virrankoski, has today resigned from the Board of Boliden. The proposal further entails to dismiss Satu Huber and Christoffer Taxell.

The proposed new Board is backed by Afa Försäkring, AMF Pension, Carl Bennet AB, Eton Park, Folksam, Handelsbanken fonder, Lansdowne Partners, LKAB, Nordea fonder, Odin fonder, Robur fonder, SEB fonder, Skandia, Skellefteå Kraft AB and Östersjöstiftelsen. The proposal is also supported by the Swedish Shareholders' Association.

The extraordinary general meeting will be held on October 21, 2005 at 2 p.m. in World Trade Center, Klarabergsviadukten 70, Stockholm.
