Under torsdagseftermiddagen uppstod rökutveckling på 850 meters nivå i Garpenbergsgruvan. 130 medarbetare som befann sig under jord tog sig rutinmässigt till räddningskammare. Efter att det konstaterats att det var säkert evakuerades all personal ovan jord. Rökutvecklingen orsakades av en arbetsmaskin och en utredning kommer att inledas. Produktionen under jord beräknas återupptas inom kort. Anrikningsverket påverkades ej.
